Abstract


Computerized data minimization and storage using xml enable sql server is Database information system used by the institution to record and supervises all the student records undergoing their Youth Service experience. It is a powerful tool in the career department of the Institution. XML is here as the internet standard for information exchange among e-businesses and applications. With its dramatic adoption and its ability to model structured, unstructured and semi-structured data, XML has the potential of becoming the data model for internet data. In the recent years, Oracle has evolve its DBMS to support complex, structured, and unstructured data. Oracle has now extended that technology to enable the storage and querying XML data by evolving its DBMS to an XML enabled DBMS – Oracles has now extended that technology to enable the storage and querying of XML data by evolving its DBMS to an XML enabled DBMS – Oracle.In this, paper we will present Oracles’ XML – enabling database technology. In particular, we will discuss how XML data can be stored, managed, and queried in the Oracle8i database.

1.0 Introduction

Increasingly, developers don’t have a choice between relational and XML data. Each has its strengths and each has its place. Reports and business intelligence applications work primarily with relational data, but vendors and customers need data in XML. And both kinds of data are increasingly integrated: change requests refer to customer email; trouble-tickets reference white papers. SQL Server 2005 can help you manage all these different kinds of data under a single platform. Even without any built-in support for XML, a database system typically offers more robust management functionality than a file system. Features such as security, backup, and mirroring make the database a good home for documents.

But XML isn’t completely new to the Microsoft database world: SQL Server 2000 shipped with some XML functionality, and SQLXML continues to improve client-side functionality. But most of the XML support in that version has to do with mapping between relational and markup data. The OPENXML keyword is used to shred documents into a tabular format for storage. And the FOR XML clause can be used to publish relational data as XML on demand.

It’s a nice piece of indirection: Developer don’t (necessarily) have to learn database libraries and DBAs don’t have to worry (too much) about the intricacies of XML. But the indirection is only one-way: SQL Server 2000 offers very little in the way of native XML support. You can store your document in string, but you can’t index it, or shred it on the fly – not without a lot custom development Maintaining a data storage environment that is both dependable and cost-effective has become a major challenges for law firms and corporations of all sizes.

For over three years, Inventus has been providing data storage and numerous other data center services within a very successful outsourced model. Both law firms and corporations have taken advantage of the robust infrastructure Inventus has assembled over the years to either enhance, or even replace their own in-house offering. In addition to data storage, other services include: back-up, de-duplication, business continuity, and disaster recovery. These services can be provided in conjunction with a best practices e-discovery strategy, or simply to alleviate the burden of one of the many IT challenges every faces today.


1.1 Statement of Problem

Owing to:

  1. The difficulties people face in keeping individual information/data
  2. Inadequate supervision of youth service individuals
  3. Difficulties people encountered when searching for given youth service information.
  4. Problem individual encountered in knowing their deployment area.
  5. Time wasted in searching for individual information on packed files.
  6. Time wasted in sorting youth service files.

1.2 Purposeof Study

The sole purpose of this study is to put to an end the difficulties encountered in storing data and distribution of their information and individual that want to have access to the information. This is achieved by designing a data minimization and storage software.


1.3 Aims and Objectives

The aims and objectives of this project is listed below:

  1. To stop or eliminate the difficulties people face with manual method of storage
  2. To eliminated unwillingness and nonchalant attitude of some staff that deal with information in an organization.
  3. To demonstrate increased motivation to the database workers.
  4. To easy the work associated with manual method.
  5. To eliminate the error involved with the manual storage of data/information.
  6. To save the time wasted when searching or sorting for a given data/information.
  7. To remove untidy nature of most offices because of huge number of files scattered all over.

1.4 Significance of Study

With the growth in information technology, the study offers numerous values both to the higher institution and to any organization that deals on data/information.

Huge of files kept in the offices will no longer be there again because information will be stored on the computer with the help of the computerized data minimization and storage using xml enable sql server.

It will help to keep a comprehensive record of Youth service individuals.


1.5 Scope / Delimitation

This project work is narrowed to Youth service information primary assignment deployment Board and her individuals. It deals with the designing of computerized data minimization and storage using xml enable sql server. The program will help individuals get information concerning their Youth service.


1.6 Limitation / Constraints

Owing to the scope of this project as mentioned above, this project work is limited to data minimization and storage using xml enable sql server only. It is important to mention that time was a major constraint in the course of fact finding.

It is also wise to mention here that some information we need to work with was not collected because of nature of my case study.


1.7 Definition of Terms

Administration is an aspect of running the organization by devising systems which will run smoothly.

This is the electromechanical part of computer system.

This is data that have been processed, interpreted and understood by the recipient of the message or report.

Is a collection of computer network that operate to common standards and enable the computes and the prog re-ram they run to communicate directly.

8) Server:

This is a process that provides requested services for clients.

9) Software:

This is a logical written program that hardware uses to perform it’s operation.

10) System:

Is the collection of hardware, software, data information, procedures and people.

11) Website:

Is a space or location customized by a company, organization or an individual which is locatable within an address on the internet.

12) Image/Video:

Image/video is the technology of electronically capturing, recording, processing, storing, transmitting, and reconstructing a sequence of still images representing scenes n motion.

5.0 Recommendations, Summary and Conclusion

5.1 Recommendations

For the image stream transfer using real time transmission protocol to be effective, I recommend that following should be taken care of:

  1. Having access to internet
  2. Having a well designed and animated website
  3. Current Anti virus

5.2 Summary

Using XML for data access allows you to separate the data from the presentation, and promotes reuse, extensibility, and division of labor. XML also has a simplified data model, which promotes easier testing.

This article presents and compares five data access approaches, using a variety of technologies including ASP and ADO, XSLT, and Direct XML. Once built, the solutions are compared on the basis of their speed and efficiency oppose for a moment that you’re designing a data-driven internet application, you want to make sure that the solution is well-architected, but performance is not your primary concern. You would prefer that the solution used for the downstream direction (database to browser) extended well to the upstream direction (browser to database).


5.3 Conclusion

In the past, we used XML and XSL in all types of solutions from large-scale enterprise apps right down to five or ten-day mini projects. We were finding that most of the XML resources out there really focused on XML as an enterprise technology, and as a result most sites were still being built in the traditional ASP approach that had remained relatively uncharged since it was first introduced in the early days of Microsoft ® Internet Information Server (IIS) 3.0.

Much has changed in the year since the “Beyond ASP” article was published. Most notably. MSXML 3.0 was released in October 2000 with support for the W3C standard XSLT, .NET was announced, and SQL Server 2000 was released, soon followed by two Web release which enhanced its XML capacities. In short, these new technologies solidify XML-centric approaches for almost any Internet-based application. Indeed, to optimize development for the Microsoft .NET-based servers, you must put XML at the center of your architecture.
