Objectives of the Study

1. To determine the of some harmful substance which are majorly use among the nurses students in Imo State College Of Nursing.

Sample and Sampling Technique

Due to the potentially large population size of student nurses at Imo State College Of Nursing, a purposive sampling technique will be employed to select participants for the study. Purposive sampling allows the researcher to select participants who possess the characteristics or experiences relevant to the research objectives (Creswell & Creswell, 2017). Specifically, convenience sampling within predetermined academic units or program cohorts will be utilized to recruit participants from different levels of nursing education.

Method of Data Collection

Data collection will be conducted through self-administered paper-based questionnaires distributed to student nurses at designated academic locations within Imo State College Of Nursing, Orlu. Research assistants trained in ethical principles and data collection procedures will facilitate the distribution and collection of questionnaires. Participants will be provided with clear instructions on how to complete the questionnaire independently and anonymously.

Reliability of the Instrument

The reliability of the questionnaire will be assessed through internal consistency reliability, which examines the extent to which items within the instrument consistently measure the same underlying construct (DeVellis, 2016). Cronbach’s alpha coefficient will be calculated to evaluate the internal consistency of items related to substance use knowledge and attitudes. A coefficient value of 0.70 or higher will be considered acceptable for demonstrating adequate reliability of the instrument.

Method of Data Analysis

Quantitative data collected through the questionnaire will be analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Descriptive statistics, including frequencies, percentages, will be used to summarize participants’ demographic characteristics, substance use knowledge scores, and attitudes towards substance use.
