Objectives of the Study

1. To assess the current practices and adherence to infection prevention protocols among nurses in the surgical ward of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH)

3. To evaluate the impact of educational interventions and training programs on nurses’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to SSI prevention in the surgical ward of UPTH

Research Questions

1. What are the current practices and adherence to infection prevention protocols among nurses in the surgical ward of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) ?
2. What are the challenges and barriers faced by nurses in preventing surgical site infections (SSIs) at UPTH?
3. What are the impact of educational interventions and training programs on nurses’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to SSI prevention in the surgical ward of UPTH?

Research Hypotheses

Null Hypothesis (HO):

• There is no significant difference between the current practices and adherence to infection prevention protocols among nurses in the surgical ward of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH).

Alternative Hypothesis (HI):
