5.0 Summary Of Findings Conclusion And Recommendations.

This chapter will derive into discussion and implication of result and findings. Conclusion, recommendation and also suggestions for further research.

5.1 Summary Of Findings.

The focus of the research work has been the relevance of management information system (MIS) to the achievement organizational objective so far, the major result and finding is that management information system has contributed to the achievement of the organizational objective of NITEL Owerri area office. This shows that management information system actually relevant to NITEL and we shall use this result to generalize that management information system is relevant to all NITEL organizational/ braches in the country and to all organizational that make use of information system like NITEL another are of my finding is the aspect of effectiveness of these system devices used by NITEL the telephone, memo, fax, internet and computer systems are all working and the research discovered that all these information system devices are all functional.

In terms or the (MIS) sub-system which were investigated, research result shows they all are operation in NITEL in another dimension; it was also investigated whether NITEL management and staff do tore, retrieve and make use in/out information that flows in planning and administration of the entire activities of NITEL.

It was found out that these requirements stated above are actually met. The general effect of (MIS) on NITEL has been satisfactory.

5.2 Conclusion

The objectives of the study was to determine the relevance of management information system in achieving organizational objectives and to determine its general effect on the organization the findings of the study have shown that the contribution to goal attainment, effectiveness, relevance and important of management information system (MIS) cannot be over emphasized.

Management information system helps to provide data with which the organization carries out its various functions. It is my belief as the researcher that this research work help the Nigeria telecommunication plc (NITEL) in general achieve its objectives; it will go a long way to make other organization become information system oriented.

5.3 Recommendations

Having analyzed a data collected and tested hypothesis, the researcher believes that there is a reasonable level of relationship between management and management information system (MIS) in an organization. The following are the recommendation by the researcher,

  1. Accurate information should be taken into consideration in order to enhance better performance of the job by staff.
  2. The information system should be well structural to enable top management in making decision.
  3. Top and middle level management staff should be properly trained to formulate appropriate decision making strategies.
  4. The entire organization should be management information system (MIS0 oriented.
  5. The NITEL organizational should repair vandalized lines, repair demanded or non-working phone books, make telephone lines, handle customer complaints appropriately and no time, train staff on how to utilize the potentials of the computer and internet fully. The organization should as well finance their information system requirements so as to be up to data and meet the demands of innovations in the communications industry.

For Further Research

With the advent of many, public telephone operations and GSM operation via MTN, GLOBA COM< ZAIN< BORDEX TELECOM etc. there are bound to be competition between them and NITEL. So adequate research should be carried out to help NITEL face opposition from its competitions bearing in mind that information is the live wire of any organization.
