Production Of Activated Carbon From Dom Palm And Its Adsorption Performance On Heavy Metals

Objectives of the Study

  1. To produce activated carbon from dom palm biomass through carbonization and activation processes.

  2. To characterize the physical and chemical properties of the produced activated carbon, including surface area, pore size distribution, and surface functional groups.

  3. To evaluate the adsorption performance of the dom palm-based activated carbon for the removal of heavy metals from aqueous solutions.

  4. To assess the influence of key parameters such as pH, contact time, initial metal concentration, and adsorbent dosage on the adsorption efficiency of the activated carbon.

Research Questions

  1. How does the pH of the solution affect the adsorption efficiency of dom palm-based activated carbon for heavy metal removal?

  2. What is the relationship between contact time and the adsorption capacity of the activated carbon for heavy metals?

  3. How does the initial metal concentration in the solution impact the adsorption performance of the activated carbon?

  4. What is the optimal adsorbent dosage required to achieve maximum adsorption efficiency for heavy metal removal using dom palm-based activated carbon?
