The purpose of this study is to determine the problems and prospects of poultry management. Data were collected from both primary and secondary sources. The major data collection instrument is the questionnaire. The data were presented in table as frequency distribution. In the analysis, the techniques of percentages of and frequency were used. The following are the major findings of the study:-To find out the extent of standardization in the poultry business. To examine how the commercialization of this poultry agricultural products is in line with the marketing concept of phinormar Nigeria Ltd is a part. And also to develop a system of managing poultry farming in Enugu state with a view to enhance poultry development in the area. The conclusion, a successful producer today must utilize a combination of the most efficient bird and sound management practices.
1.1 Background Of The Study
Agriculture continues to be the most important sector of the Nigerian economy in terms of provision of employment inspite of its declining contribution to the nation’s foreign exchange earnings. The type of poultry that are commonly reared in Nigeria are chickens, ducks, guinea fowls, turkeys, pigeons and more recently ostriches.
The importance of protein in our diet cannot be over emphasized poultry production is also profitable through capital intensive. The importance of protein in diet and lack of good management and low maintenance of the pre existing poultry farms in Enugu has necessitated the formation of Phinomar (Nig) Ltd is suited at Ngwo Agi in Udi Local government Area of Enugu state. The farm is owned by Igwe I.O.U Ayalogu of Enugu Village in Ngwo who provided the entire capital and material requirement for the take off of the farm at interception. His oldest son by name prince Uche Ayalogu was the managing director of the farm.
The firm started in 1963 with few birds about 12 birds, which later in premier position of the farm. - Make useful suggestions and recommendations necessary to up lift the importance of the application of marketing principles in the marketing of agricultural products in Enugu state.
- Enrich the research student with the knowledge of poultry keeping as a viable business venture.

Summary, Conclusions And Recommendations
An attempt to examine the problem and prospect of poultry management Enugu State was the principal focus of this study. The specific objectives were to: describe the socio-economic characteristics of poultry farmers in the study area, estimate profitability of poultry production in the study area, and determine the relationship between inputs and output obtained in poultry production. Primary data were collected from 80 poultry farmers selected through multi-stage random sampling technique from Asa LGA, Ilorin east, Ilorin south and Moro Local Government Areas of Enugu State, using structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, farm budgetary technique, benefit cost analysis and ordinary least square regression analysis was used to analyze the data.
The results of the analyses revealed that majority (72.5%) of the respondents were male with the mean age of 38.7 years. (63.8%) of these youths had keen interest in poultry production and chose poultry farming as their main occupation. Result of the cost and returns to estimate the profitability of poultry production in the study areas revealed that there is profit in poultry production in the study area with net farm income from layers production stood at ₦1,534,093.53 while that of broilers was ₦ 1,966,086.49 in one production cycle respectively. The finding reveals that poultry production is profitable in the study area. Analysis of the result also showed that inputs such as cost of day old chick, labour, feeds, depreciating cost of equipment and operating expenses have significant relationship with poultry output in the study area.
This study investigated the economics of poultry production in the selected local government areas of Enugu state. Three important findings emerged; first, poultry production in Enugu state is dominated by highly educated youths, a positive sign for future poultry activities. Second, poultry production is highly profitable in Enugu state; however, broiler production contributed the highest return in the area of study. Thirdly, the costs of inputs as revealed by the regression analysis were high and increasing with the size of production thereby depriving the farmers the full benefit of their efforts
- To reduce cost of production Farmers should form agricultural cooperative groups which will enable them to benefit from the economy of scale through bulk purchases of farm inputs.
- Government should encourage the youths involved by providing them technical knowledge in the area of resource management through the extension agents to assist in reduction of production cost.
- Government should try to provide the essential farm input such as drugs and vaccine to the farmers at the right time and at subsidized prices to reduce the cost of production in order to improve profitability.
