Summary, Conclusion and Conclusion
5.1. Summary of Findings
An Organization exists in an environment to realize its aims in the case of non-profit making ones and for the profit making ones to maximize profit. It becomes part and parcel of that environment, enjoys and suffers equally like any inhabitant living there in the community, provide land, schools, market and provide conducive atmosphere necessary for development and existence of the organization. The community on the other hand, expects the organization to satisfy some of its needs in terms of support for certain social amenities. The organizations and the community becomes inter-dependent to the extent that they exist to service each other for the overall development of other town.
The community will happily welcome any organization that will come to her assistance in any way. But the problem is when the organization is one, noted for inefficiency even in its statutory functions, poor co-operate image, provide financials and when the community is large and diverse in culture and language.
This community this day, ventures the materials and objectives development or support given by any organization. Anything short of that, may not be fully appreciated since the things so provided do not satisfy their immediate needs. But development is not only in terms of physical intransient but includes human developments.
The police force has made efforts in the aspect of human development through employment, provision of sporting opportunities, provision of laws and orders satisfy, also contribute to the various aspects of development although these are her constitutional functions for an organization and basis with a very poor operate image. The task of redoing that battening image is an enormous task and should certainly start from improvement in its constitutional functions for which it was set up and for which it is paid the tax payees money before deriving into other aspects of endearing it to the community.
The police has done a little in areas of employment, sports and this little efforts may appear justified in views of its views of this resources yet there is room for employment wings the same learn resources.
Every corporate body, regardless of its type of business or functions, is a community neighbor in the community in which it operates. It is left for the organization to prove itself to its community as a good neighbor.
Evidence from the study centered, shows that the police have no concerted community development programmes. It certainly has some duties scheduled for community relations. No single evidence has been adduced by the respondents for what the police may call community programmes.
But a greater revelation came in the armpit of its reputation which has been known to have bettered long time ago. Evidence showed that there is a great gap in the relation between the police and the community.
Although this poor relationship had not reached a breaking point, the fear remains that it may happen some day. Since the police has not got any good image left for it either as a result of good performance of its duty or as a good community neigbhour, a question may be asked, Is there any benefit in what the police has done for the community?
Yes of course, the organization must despise, yet most in times of needs, the police public relations officers enthused.
For an organization, profit making or non profit making, ptivate or public to be treated and acknowledged as a good community neigbhour within its community of operation, it must address itself to issues and problems the community considers as crucial and should equally at every stage inform the community yearnings. It should equally at every stage inform the community on its art, should reciprocate by using appreciative words on such kind gestures.
For the police, such information needed from them may be on crime prevention and safety methods anti-burglary measures, accidents and five prevention among others.
