Film is a series of moving picture recorded with sound that tells a story, shown on the television or at the Cinema. As part of Mass Communication, it involves the use of vision and sound (audio-visual) in transmitting and dissemination its messages.
The messages can be used in educating, informing, entertaining and socializing its target audience.
One of the most adapted aspects of film is extent to which violence of the film influences social behaviour. Also there has been scant scientific evidence to prove casual relationships such as one between violence of film and increase in crime rate.
However, from the earliest days of medium, adults have expressed concern about the influence of aim on the children. Parent have shown anxiety about the influence of violence of film on children, since at that age, a child’s social adjustment or mental health is affected.

Chapter Five
Summary And Recommendation
The study has shown that there is a casual relationship between film violence and an increase in crime rate. Since film messages like any other mass media messages affect attitudinal changes as they are effectively designed to alter the psychological functioning of individuals, children who watch such programs are immensely affected. The majority that answered the tenth question agreed that violent films have effects on their behavioural tendencies. Also in an interview conducted on this study two-third of the respondents agreed that there is a nexus between the using rate of crime amongst children and that of the film violence viewer ship.
There is also a belief that such violence are more predominant in dramas (tragedy and comedy). Also in the questionnaire most of the respondents preferred comedy film to other films. It is believed that drama or tragedy film has the greatest number of violence in its program content. Such film viewership is the cause of the rising crime rate amongst the children because at that age, children social adjustment or mental health is affected by his violent viewership.
Finally, on the rate of those children influenced by violence on film more especially when they get to their youthful period, the study shows they grow up as violent adults.
5.1 Conclusion
The study has proved the negative impact, violent film have on the children for the past years. Our movie producers have taken a needless chance with our children’s welfare by permitting them to see such a parade of violence across our picture tubes. Instead of playing a positive role in the child’s up bringing, our films are designed in a way that violence are paraded. This makes our children go ahead to reproduce violence after watching them on the screen.
5.2 Recommendations
