1.1 Background Of The Study
The early 70s saw and witnessed the end of political crises and at its time organized labour which was put into the loffin during the civil war was once release free its dilemma of whether or not to forget industrial action in the life rest national security. With the civil was, labour militate its demand for improvement in the usage structure and other condition of the employment throughout the country. Workers protest coupled with the government growing realization of poor economic states of the working class ultimately led to the establishment of certain commission like the Adebo commission.
Since 1970 to the present time, workers demand have increased could not satisfy the need of the employees in the faces of the economics recessions which employees force management to access to their demand. Strike as defined by section 37(1) of trade dispute Act no 7, 1976 is a cessation of work by a body of employed persons understanding of any number of employed persons to continue to work for an employer inconsequence of a dispute, done as a means of compelling their employer on any person or body persons employed to aid other workers.
As it stands, that force strike is one word that torn the flash of management. Each time a strike occurs, substantial out is lost during the first general strike of 1945, 1993 (Asu strike) Jan 2000 (NLC strike) when the government disagreed with civil servant wages and allowances about thirty working days we lest. Output dropped substantial, as a request government had to upgrade salaries in a bid to resolve between 1980, 82, 1993 and 1999 to 2000 respectively, there was a spot of industrial and trade disputes and work stoppages in the country requiting in a high loss in man hours and productivity. This spate of industrial unrest was evidently resulting of lack of adequate attention to the human labour in business organization. There has been grant sagging the fact that a human factor itself paramount importance in industry, commercial and civil services.
The management pre-occupation with maximizing profit has always made them to pay little of no attention to the human factor in the organization. This relegation of the human factors to the background by management has been a serious but latent cause of increase in strike action on with its resultant consequences. It is the purpose of this work to probe into this and acquaint the management with the tools for combating this hydra headed monster.
1.2 Statement Of The Problem
The unstable industrial related climate in Nigeria just within the last decade has resulted in all time record of cost working hours, unprecedented work stoppages as a result of strike.
In the first six months of the year 1982, Nigeria lost a total of 4,598 man-hours because of strike action by workers. This represented a 34% increase in the first cost during the first half of 1959 and is even more than 100% higher than occurrence. There are many others in the hundred of resorted officially four is against this background that is research effort is consummated with the definite mission of providing answers to the following questions:

There are a number of factors which constitute impediments to his accomplishment. First among these factors is time, the short period that is acquired to accomplish and submit this work coupled with the time spent on other courses gave me the highest trouble and hindered me to an extent a more elaborate search into the study.
Again, the data gathering for writing this research paper was being carried on at this time, the Nigeria union of teachers is facing a hard time of non-payment of salaries. This created a great problem of administering the questionnaire to the respondents; this was not possible to collect as much information as one had wished.

5.0 Summary Of Findings, Conclusion And Recommendations
5.1 Summary Of Findings
The research effect reveals the following facts about strike action and is effectiveness in achieving union aims by management of Nigeria union of teachers (NUT) Enugu branch. The summary if therefore completed based on the information gathered and analyzed. The findings are as follows:
The most frequent cause of strike action is grievance relating to seniority promotion and training problems. This is followed by poor wages incentives the position occupied by major source of conflict between labour and management in every economy is wage disputes.
Strike action which helps union in activating their aims from management is highly effective in a unionized group then in a non-unionized group.
Though strike action is deemed to be an effective union, it has not really them to achieve their aims from the management rather the most effective union weapon in achieving aims meant in joint consultation.
The ineffectiveness of strike action is helping union to achieve their aim from management attributed not only to the mode of it by trade union leaders but most to the lack of co-operation among members. Thus, we do have black legs during a strike action. The most effective means of setting is by the use of constitutionally laid down procedure.
The impact of strike action is fact more by the public followed by the union members and finally by management.
Finding contention and analyzed so far have placed us in a better position to conclude that through strike action which is frequently caused by grievance relating to wages seniority promotion and training problems and demand to be effective only among unionized worker is done not really contribute to the achievement of the union aims and its effect is only short-lived.
Joint consultation is upheld to be the most effective tool to unions in achieving their aims from management.
However, where a strikes action occurs, it is the public that suffers most. Then the union and management therefore to immediately put a stop to the continued suffering of the public.
The dispute is better settled of through constitutionally laid down procedures.
The main truth of this research has been to advance the way of improving the relationship between management and union thus, to have industrial peace. The management should to reduce the air of disputes arising in this firms by trying to avert the cases of disputes which are likely of seniority promotion and training programmes and other working condition provision and wage incentives. An adequate procedure and immediate dispensation of the provision causes good industrial harmony.
Furthermore, the management should always try to see any dispute settled through the constitutionally procedures. Mention could be made of the recognition and integration of unions more efforts should be made to integrate the whole members of the plans into the union and make them recognize the need of collective barging that could be achieved through acquiring them with the decision needed.
Since joint consultation helps more in achieving aims from management, joint consultation should be steps to when a dispute arises and where a strike location is evitable. That necessary step to undertaking it must be met.
Again, the laid down procedure of settlement must be followed and the management should established a good report with union members for a conducive atmosphere.
