The young ones grow to trust the family as a place of peace and comfort sharing their problem with the family member than outsiders. This is because family members respect and love each other and would like to keep their secret. Family is the oldest institution one can imagine and just like any other institution it has its rules and regulation. This rules and regulation are such that if one party deviate from them, it affect not only the family where the two people come from but the children are particularly affected as well as society at large. Marital instability poses a big threat to the children and disorganized their lives. The family seems to be in danger of loosing its central institutional place in human affairs in the light of marital instability. The children are always the victim of any marital instability in any society. The suffering of these children start immediately marital instability occurs between their parents in the family. In the case where the marital instability leads to divorce the situation becomes more problematic for the children in that society. Most society can afford to turn its back on marital instability. The family is too indispensable a unit, a social structure and too necessary a means for the transmission of culture to the oncoming generation to be allowed to fall apart. Thus, this term paper is a step in the right direction and brings to the lime light the consequences of marital instability on children and as well as provide solution to the problem
Therefore, in order to reduce these causes of family instability to the barest minimum, the researcher feels that religious leaders should be recommended for training in counseling psychology, because evidence abound that some issues that are spiritualized needs not to be spiritualized but be addressed psychologically. To do this properly, the religious leaders will do well by acquiring some professional counselling skills. Having observed from the findings, the ignorance of the causes of marriage instability as displayed by large number of the respondents in a city where the general slogan is “shine your eyes” the researchers feel that the voice of the counselling psychologists who specialize in family life and marriage is not well heard. Therefore, the researcher believes that more families would be saved from marriage destroyers if counseling psychologists choose to speak beyond the classroom environment and speak to the public; taking advantage of the media houses. It would not be out of place if marriage counseling psychologists could organize marriage seminars both at schools and at religious houses so as to sensitize couples on how marriage instability subtly creeps into families
