Objectives of the Study
The overall aim of this study is to critically examine the effect of parental involvement on the academic performance of physics students in senior secondary school.
Hence, the study will be channeled to the following specific objectives;
- Ascertain whether commitment and active participation of parents in school matters promote students’ academic success.
- Ascertain the extent to which the parents participate in the academic activities of students in secondary schools.
- Ascertain whether lack of adequate parental involvement contributes to the shortcomings of children’s education.
- Ascertain whether any relationship exists between parental involvement and students’ performance in school examination.
Research Questions
- Does commitment and active participation of parents in school matters promotes students’ academic success?
- To what extent do the parents participate in the academic activities of students in secondary schools?
- Do lack of adequate parental involvement contribute to the shortcomings of children’s education?
- Is there any relationship exist between parental involvement and students performance in school examination?
Research Hypotheses
The following hypotheses will be tested in the course of this study;
- H01: Commitment and active participation of parents in school matters does promotes students’ academic success.
- H02: The extent to which parents participate in the academic activities of students in secondary schools is low.
- H03: Lack of adequate parental involvement does not contribute to the shortcomings of children’s education.
- H04: There is no existing relationship between parental involvement and students performance in school examination.
