Abstract
The effect of modern communication gadget on journalism in Nigeria. The title of this study took a vivid look at the coming of communication gadget, more powerful than the ancient ones to take care of adequate communication outreach to the whole world. It treats in succession the introduction of communication among the early men, the need for and the introduction of ancient communication gadgets and the proliferation of the gadgets into what is today known as the global village of communication.
Five chapters were used to achieve our win on this topic. Chapter one: Introduction to the topic in forms of background of the study, significant of the study, statement of the problem, objectives, and definitions of terms. Chapter two: Deals with review of related literatures and comments.
Chapter three: In accomplishing this task, this research adopted the historical methodology in the research using investigative approach.
Chapter four: analysis of the data collected in chapter three.
Chapter five: The researcher made conclusions and recommendations based on the topic studied. It is the researcher belief that this research is an additional material or knowledge in this area of human endeavor.

Introduction
1.1 Background Of The Study
Communication is so central to human existence and all human activities. It would be foolhardily for any group or nation to put it in the background in its economic, political, social and other activities. Infant, we are bold to say that communication is the most vital factor in building, organizing, united and progressive nation; that without it, there will be no national development. All these can be confidently said because of the obvious fact that all human activities take place in cross-fire information flow and communication whether inter-personal, group, local, state national or international level.
Man was created to be gregarious and because of these qualities, they have always had to fall back on one another in interaction recognized as human communication.
This refers to the process of transmitting message, idea and attitudes and creating meanings between two and more people usually through the natural facilities of the voices, sensory organs, facial expressions, body manipulations and lately machine –assisted channels or devices. Even now, the important and importance of communication in our modern and sophisticated society cannot be over emphasized.
The awareness for these necessitates introduced mass communication into the world.
It is process by which a complex organization with aid of one or more machine produce and transmit message directed at large, hetrogenous, diversified and scattered audience. It is also the act of communicating to mass audience through the use of mass media such as books, newspapers, magazines, films, radio, television and computers to mention but few that the field of journalism in Nigeria have used as a medium to get information across the audience. Communication had been in existence all the while but it was never a kind of mass involvement because the world then lacked advanced equipments or gadgets that could carry these messages and information to many people at the same time (mass effect).
The great discoveries and innovations of communication gadgets from early 30’s to date has changed communication from primitive kind to modern (mass) kind.
Mass communication gadgets is as old as mass communication itself because the notion of getting people involved in communication in mass would have remained in the background if the gadgets were not modern minced or advanced technological. Mass communication started with Johannes Gutenberg invention of printing press.
This invention led to proliferation of the print material such as books, newspapers and magazines, through these media more people were reached as it concerns communication came on the scene with the invention of such gadgets as radio and television.
1.2 Statement Of Problem
Modern communication gadgets is posing serious threats to our lives and also has become a challenge in modern office situation , where journalists are faced with how to manipulate the equipments which as a result is affecting their productivity . All these necessitate the researcher into the study.
1.3 Objective Of The Study
The purpose of this study is to investigate and ascertain the positive and negative effect of modern communication gadgets on journalism which may be militating against smooth operating of journalist.
- To gain a clear understanding and accounts of the past as it concern communication gadgets.
- To gain clearer perspective of the present as it concern communication gadgets.
- To be able to give adequate comparism between the abetment mean of communication [gadgets] and the modern ones.
- The implications of modern communication gadgets for Nigerian journalism.

1.5 Significant Of The Study
Due to the valuable and irretrievable use of the mass media and communication devices in all departments of the life, one cannot over emphasize the significant of this study. Being a kind of historical study, it would lead to the integrated narration of past events or facts concerning all technological devices fashioned to aid communication.
This study is a contribution to already existing work on the course [advent of modern communication gadgets, and its implications for Nigerian journalism.
Every researcher who is likely to embark on any kind of research on this course would find the study very useful. This study would also be useful to communication students; it would explain adequately the advent growth and modernization of communication gadgets. Generally the study can be assimilated by all lovers of history with scientific mind of discovery and understanding situations, cases and implications. At the end of this study, the background growth and modifications of the modern communication gadgets would be carefully treated.
1.6 Scope Of The Study
In carrying out the research of this study for this project, a lot of constraints and limitations were uncounted. The mere fact that (the researcher) is embarking on this project as the first in every field that is to say that this is the deliberate act on attempt at a constructive, scientific study is in itself an understandable short coming
Furthermore the researcher had to juggle for lectures along with the research work therefore had a restricted limited time to attend to the project work. This fact also prevented them from travelling far. For collection of facts and data. The researcher was therefore mostly compelled to use only materials available at hand and around the environment.
Most sources were very much relevant to part with documented and information’s and in cases, lots of protocols were initiated before the source was made available with limited time to use them before they were back. In as much as these constraints were met, the researcher used the available sources to the best of her ability to tackle justifiably the project. Though it’s not much, every bit of the project is worth the effort and truthful. The topic is a very new one so i give it all the attention one might put in reading it.
1.7 Limitations Of The Study
In this research work, there are some problems encountered which affected the progress of the research. It was difficult to get permission to be allowed to collect data from the corporation.
Several trips were made to FRCN (Enugu) to get the necessary information needed. There was also problem of cost which I managed to update from different sources. However most of the other problems were reduced by the presentation of my identity card, letter identification from my school, my being friendly with them as well as explaining the aim of the research.

American inventors of the telegraph.

undesired disturbance in any communication channels.
Press conceptual definition:
A machine for pressing together paper and an inked surface.

An electrical device for transmitting the voice by wire over long distance.

5.1 Summary Of Findings
The studies of reviewed in this chapter have shown critically the advent and implication of modern communication gadget for Nigerian journalism and the world.
We have seen so far the history of communication and its gadget. We have also studied people’s view on the issue as it concerns the implication of these gadgets (both positive and negatives). The communication gadgets concern us not only from the view point of educational and social process but in a event wilder context. The context of universal declaration of human right which solemnly affairs the right to freedom of information United Kingdom has proclaimed that this is the key to all humans freedoms because the rule of information in modern life is so vast that provost every aspect of the enjoyment of human right. With communication gadgets, this unifying factor of the mass communication comes to play greedily.
Nigwa is fully committed to the realization of highest level of communication with the rest of the world if she tries to invest towards her communication gadget innovation and invention. IBB eastern gateway is one of the greatest achievements of Nigeria as it concerns communication gadgets, if the early standard of this establishment can be maintained together with innovations at such station as NAN, FRCN, NTA, Nigeria would count among the best countries in communication capacity.
5.2 Conclusion
A careful look at the data analysis and presentation has shown the effect of modern communication gadget as a continuous process from stone to global village. Sigma to alphabets, penman to printer, telegraph to telephone. Radio and television, mounting of repeater device in eth space (satellite) and finally computerization of the whole device.
We have also seen the fact that necessity is the mother of the invention these communication gadgets came to be because of the mounting need of the society which continues to develop as they are solved. First there was the need to associate, interact and be socially involved with one another thus the development of the language from sign and symbols. Another need arose amongst the early men to do things in unison and to spread brotherhood, acquire an identity and to be in control of order lines, and tranquility writing techniques, drums, flutes, gongs, fire and tribal marks came to be.
As people grew in thought, many other needs arose to get people involved in mass communication, to pass information on a wider range and broader place, to integrate the world for better understanding and appreciating of one another, the needs grew so also did inventions and innovations of communication gadgets, the printing press came and the world went on to make good use of them for printing text. Many nations such as the Greeks found untold joy in this invention so that many got down using this means of communication to boost their abilities, as a result, many writers came up and many printing centers operation soon the world was into the world of discovery once more.
Telegraph, telephone than radio surface as great break through sin, the world of communication. The loaned a great reporter of the 60s joined the rest of the world in lamentation thus the remarked, it was thought to be the 8th wonder of the world, the fourth break through. Imagine non wires, no cables but then marvelously it travels far and wide sounds all the much better than the human eyes. It must be a magic or rather a dream and a farce it was thought that the invention of radio was going to be the final inventions in the world of communication but before long, the motion pictures surfaced with few touches here and there the television materialized.

Every one now realizes appreciates and hasten to embrace modern communication now widely to be not only source of freeing man from the shackles of ignorance, supervision and poverty but the means of suitably coping memorizing with society’s daily modernization. 5.3 Recommendations
This study reveals the nature of the modern communication gadgets from the days of the early man to our present age.
It reveals in detail, the sequence of invention and the succession of the growth and proliferation of these modern communication gadgets.
Reasons behind the invention of each gadget are adequately treated as well as the inventors, the brains behind such inventions. We also treated in a nutshell the effects of these communication gadgets as well as predictions, for future inventions and innovations.
One to the fact that limited time was used for this study and since the researcher cover every necessary source to gather data for the study, the researcher recommend that future researchers in this area should dedicate more time and visit places as to come up with better findings. They should also broaden their area of study by trying to find out different parts of the world towards these inventions so as to find the part that has made the most remarkable impact towards this goal (communication gadgets invention) curd its implication for Nigeria journalism.
