Abstract

The roles that small-scale enterprises play in the growth of an economy cannot be over emphasized. This is why government, organization and individuals have placed great premium to its development. Most big business today and the world over started as a small-scale enterprise. The industrial development interested in America and south-East Asian countries can be traced to numerous small-scale enterprises. Their careful studies and investigations have revealed that in the United State, only 1/10 of 10% of the total firms in the economy employ more than 2,500 workers. The study also showed that 89% of the total firm employs less than 100 employees. Nigerians slide to industrialize is strongly dependent on effectiveness of the growing small-scale industries with particular reference to Golden Toast Fast Foods situated in Enugu. In as much as regard to our country the continuous ineffectiveness of our small-scale enterprises have promote the reason for this work. This research works is therefore an attempt to look into key and embodying factors in small scale enterprises effectiveness. Small-scale industries play a very vital role in our economy. Apart from offering jobs to our teaming, unemployed youths, it has really boosted the industrial sector of our economy presently these are numerous types of small-scale enterprises ranging from fast food retailing business to departmental stores. Most of them are doing very well, among these small scale enterprise which attracted the researcher is Golden Toast Fast Foods. Golden Toast Fast Food has been doing very tremendously well in terms of its quality customer services turn-over and over all effectiveness. It is therefore, the concern of this study to investigate sources of those positives achievements. Why do people prefer it to other competing fast food like Crunches, Appetizing, Mac Donald and Celebrities? The study will also investigate problems facing the enterprises and suggests possible solutions to those problems. We can see that our research problem is reflecting a phenomenon that is positively because Golden Toast Fast Food is well moving.

Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study

The role that small scale enterprise plays in the growth of an economy cannot be over emphasized. This is why government, organization and individuals have placed great premium to its development. Most bug business today and the world over started as small scale enterprises.

The industrial development interested in America and South-East Asian countries can be traced to numerous small scale enterprises. Their carefully studies and investigations have revealed that in United State, only 1/10 of 10% of the total firms in the economy employ more than 2,500 workers.

The study also showed that 89% of the total firms employed less than 100 employees.

Nigerian’s slide to industrialized in strongly dependent of effectiveness of the growing small scale industries with particular references to Golden Toast Fast Food situated in Enugu state.

This research work is therefore an attempt to look into key and embodying factor in effectiveness of small-scale enterprises effectiveness.

1.2 Statement of Problem

Small scale industries play vital role in our economy. Apart from offering jobs to our teaming unemployed youths, it is has really boosted the industrial sector of our economy presently these are numerous types of small scale enterprise ranging from fast food retailing business to departmental stores. Most of them are doing very well.

Among these small-scale enterprises which attracted the researcher Golden Toast Fast Food. Golden Toast Fas Food has been doing very tremendously well in terms of its quality, customers services, turn-over and over all effectiveness. It is therefore, the concern of this study to investigate the sources of these positive achievement.

Why do people prefer it to other competing fast food like Crunches, Appetizing Mac Donald and Celebrities? The study will also investigate problems facing the enterprises and suggest possible solution to those problem.

1.3 Purpose of the Study

To appraise entrepreneurial effectiveness in small scale enterprise.
To investigate the curses of success of Golden Toast Fast Food.
To find out problems facing small scale enterprises.
To search out solution to the problems facing effective management if small scale industries in Enugu.
To investigate the extent of government assistance to small scale enterprises
To know why Golden Toast Fast Food is seen as one of the best competing Fast Food in Enugu.
To verify the situation of our small scale and how they operating.
To accord appreciation to various small scale enterprise in other to ensure entrepreneurship.

1.4 Scope and Delimitation of the Study

The scope of study is the entire Small Scale enterprises in Enugu Metropolis.

However, due to loan resources like information, finance and materials the study has been limited to Golden Toast Fast Food after a random selection was made. Golden Toast Fast Food is located along presidential Road Enugu.

1.5 Research Question

What is the extent of entrepreneur effectiveness in Golden Toast Fast Food enterprise?
How the profitability of Golden Toast Fast Food increased over the years?
What is the extent and Caliber of customers that patronizing Golden Toast Fast Food?
Is entrepreneurship effectiveness the reason for success story achieved by the enterprise?
Finally, the above questions, is how the research questions are restricted.

1.6 Significance of the Study

The rationales for this study cannot be over-emphasized. It shall go a long way towards enhancing the educational professionals and private needs of the society. Students are likely to benefit first as it shall open up new areas of study towards entrepreneurs in small-scale enterprises. Professional of industrials sector shall be at least with the finds of the study which will help them increase their productivity. The study shall help produce capable entrepreneurship who shall mean our small scale enterprises since this study shall highlight circumstances for effectiveness the work is bound to create and stimulate self-employment among our youths and punctual graduates, induce small-scale entrepreneur growth as well as promote productivity in our small-scale enterprises, thereby leading to the country’s industrial development sooner than later.

1.7 Definition of Important Terms

1. Appraisal:

This means to make judgment of the value, performance or nature of something or somebody. In order words I can say that appraisal means to assess something or estimate some issues or worth likehood of assessment and quantity value.

2. Entrepreneur:

An entrepreneur is a person that is able to use innovative ideas, dreams and concept to produce economic opportunities, organize and manage availability resources , while undertaking possible risks and at a profit. He also can be a person who plan and manage a business, which can undertaker or enterprise of entrepreneual personality and financial commitment and he assume all risk in the business. Finally, he is reward for effectiveness optional profit.

3. Entrepreneurship:

This is about creating and putting the ideas creative into effect through the use of available resources. For a venture to quickly make impact and succeed the entrepreneur should be able to develop an entirely new business concept which has never been done before specially in his business environment or device ways to create something relatively new from old concept. This is called modifacating for example, making old wine and putting it in a new form of bottle. In order words it can be called a skill, the process and the act of assuming an entrepreneur. It also a way of introducing new ideas in response to one situation of simple creative innovations.

4. Effectiveness:

This is ability of producing the intended or actual result, being efficacious and efficient.

5. Entrepreneurship Effectiveness:

Entrepreneurship effectiveness is a situation in which ventures are backed with adequate analysis of entrepreneur personality towards a business thereby making a desirable profit equity.

6. Appraisal of Entrepreneurship Effectiveness:

This is to make judgment of the performance of entrepreneurs ability to produce actual result.

7. Small-Scale Enterprise:

Small scale enterprise are that which has an independent management, owner supplied capital mainly, local area of operation are relative small with the enterprise. Small scale enterprise are generally low in terms of number of person employed and in the amount of investment and annual business turn-over infact, a small scale enterprises seem less systemized and formalized that what can reasonably appear as a medium or large scale enterprises.

8. Appraisal of Entrepreneurship Effectiveness In Small-Scale Enterprises:

This is to make a judgment of his performance of entrepreneur ability to produce actual result in small scale enterprises.

5.1 Discussion of Findings

Discussion, Recommendation and conclusion: Analyzing the data collected by the researcher to answer the question geared forward finding solution to the appraisal of entrepreneurship effectiveness in small enterprise like Golden Toast Fast Food reveal the following.

The data was analyzed using simple pie chart and percentages. It revealed a lot of findings is shows that the success of variables (factors) but top on the ladder is the effective (resourcefulness) of the manager. This is shown in table 4.1 with 41.6%.

Next is locational factor, it has advantage of central location with care access to other part of the town. Following this, is the factors of initial capital which has 19.20. The role of every successful enterprise is capital. It plays a significant role to the success of any business.Furthermore the table 1 shows how to acquire capital for self employment and it from past saving.

Table two shows distribution of respondents table 4.3 academic qualification of respondents. It shows the staff in the company supervisions seen to table upper hands.
Table 4.4 this shows the respondents position in the company.
Table 4.5 shows the status of owners in the organization.
Table 4.6 shows the rate of venturing into small scale enterprise and observation reveal that rate is low.
Table 4.7 shows how do you hope to acquire capital for your self.
Table 4.8 are you aware of any government finding available to young.
Table 4.9 what do you think will lead most to your business success? Table 4.10 shows most have not benefited.

5.2 Implication of Research of Findings

The study revealed that small scale enterprise have bright feature and can help in ametiorating the unemployment situation in the country only if those who embark on them are enterprising a lot much of the success of the business is dependent on the ability and rapidity (effectiveness) of the owner. The study also reveals that initial and locational factor should be examined critical before embarking on small scale enterprise other factors that should be considered include availability of market for the product, hence the location of Golden Toast Fast Food at the heart high from area of Rangers Avenue independence layout Enugu with medium of high caliber of civil servants and businessmen a like help in boosting the fortunes of the industry.

The finding of this research is very inevitable and this makes it more complex to show inspiring more questions that will lead to further which will has hinder impact and applications, for instance the strategy steps in appraisal of entrepreneurship effectiveness in small scale business like Golden Toast Fast Food both community and welfare of this society with Enugu State implication investigated the following ;

How to acquire capital for yourself employment.
What do you think will lead most to your business success?
Have you benefit from any government of private financing institution?
What is ideal of entrepreneurship effectiveness in small scale enterprise?

5.3 Conclusions

Small scale enterprise is the key to our economic restriction yet entrepreneurship rate into this sector of our economy is low. However, the need to accelate the peace of our industrial growth

More over, Nigeria can joint the race. An approach towards encouraging our exist small scale business and adequate stimulation and industrial of potential ones should be the theme.

This is s great challenges to our numerous financial industrial and employment agencies what should put more effort to present their roles towards entrepreneurship effectiveness of various small scale enterprises.

5.4 Suggestion for Further Studies

This research work limited to Enugu and some selected small scale enterprises located at Enugu. Some selected journals and text book, were used for this work.

New research should broaden the research to other small scale in nearby town state and include more small scale enterprise in the research work project it is hereby recommended that entrepreneurship should seek to fusibility guide. In order to facilitate the provision of the feasibility study.

Infact an entrepreneurs who reconcile the analysis of feasibility study would identify the role of entrepreneur fitness and study the area where delegation of authority and responsibility is desired.

5.5 Recommendations / Implication of the Research Finding.

Having made a review of related of this project analysis and data presentation gathered , the researcher finalized the findings making feasibility recommendation and solution towards effective entrepreneurship in our small enterprise response in the rate of entrance into the back bone of every economy, the federal and state ministries of industries and their agencies should help to stop up effort in the company to awaken consciousness of our potential investors.

Towards this the government which co-odinate employment and entrepreneurship programmes and make more funds available to them for disbursement to the entrepreneurships.

Government should also consider their finding to small scale enterprise without delay and granting of laws for fresh.

5.6 Limitation of Study / Conclusions

To carryout this research work, the researcher passed trough some problems which is normal because to carryout a research work. Difficulties are bound to be encountered so the problem encountered by the research include:
Lack of cooperation from respondent: The researcher found it difficulties to convey some of the respondent, who refused to respond positively to the questionnaires even valuable in the oral interview some did not gave valuable information, and were given the questionnaires did not return it back to the researcher.

Financial Constraints:

There was no sufficient fund for transportation to the selected organization choose for this research work. Transporter was high and as much the research could not travel to most small scale enterprise.

Limitation of Time:

The researcher was not given much time to carryout this research work. The little time was shared between her course work and the research work which put the researcher in constrained position.
